DGIWG produces two outputs, Documents and Registers.
Documents may be:
Standards and Implementation Profiles that define information components that may be used to describe elements of geospatial information in a military environment.
Technical Reports that provide support information and are a reporting mechanism to facilitate strategies.
Product Specifications developed by developed by nations under multi-lateral co-production agreements based on DGIWG standards.
Historical Documents such as the older DIGEST standard, that are no longer maintained by DGIWG are provided because legacy systems still exist that use these documents.
The DGIWG Knowledge Base is a repository of all DGIWG documents. Completed work is made publicly available. Working papers and other draft material is restricted for committee use only.
The Information Components defined in DGIWG Standards. may be used as elements in information systems.
These information components may be represented as models and schema
or as registered items and are combined to form product specifications,
service and interface specifications, or exchange format specifications.
Compliance tests are model-based and build upon the schemas that
make use of the information components.
At the current time only some information components are provided.
As the suite of DGIWG standards is broadened the other information
components identified above will be provided.
