Overview:

Standard 104

  • is for geospatial systems that generate or consume aerial or satellite imagery or gridded data
  • applies to raster files (digital images as a grid pixels)

This standard is based on OGC GMLJP2 1.0

Supports:

  • georeferenced imagery (ground coordinates correspond to coordinates on a raster map or image)
  • orthoimagery (remotely-sensed, geometrically-corrected to adjust for lens distortion, camera tilt, and topographical relief)
  • elevation imagery (2.5D picture of terrain surface)
  • JPEG 2000 (enables lossless or near-lossless image compression through DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transformation))

Excludes georectified imagery

  • is for geospatial systems that generate or consume aerial or satellite imagery
  • is for raster files (digital images as a grid of pixels
  • includes referenceable imagery support (whereas 104 excludes referenceable imagery)

Supports:

  • elevation imagery (2.5D picture of terrain surface)
  • referenceable imagery (able to be saved as URL and pasted into an internet browser, document or email)
  • georeferenced imagery (ground coordinates correspond to coordinates on a raster map or image)
  • orthoimagery (remotely-sensed, geometrically-corrected to adjust for lens distortion, camera tilt, and topographical relief)
  • JPEG 2000 (enables lossless or near-lossless image compression through DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transformation))
